Human Design Gate 14: Resource Drive

What gate 14 is

In plain EnglishGate 14 is the engine that keeps working when a project feels like yours.

It starts at 24°30′ Scorpio and ends at 0°08′ Sagittarius, so it spans two signs on the 64-gate wheel. The Sacral center is its home, the part of the bodygraph the system names as the source of stamina.

Twelve Houses calls it Resource Drive. Think of someone building a shop or a garage band, one stubborn evening after another. This system dates from 1987 and is not science, so treat it as a work-style sketch.

When gate 14 is defined

In plain EnglishGate 14 defined means a steady supply of effort is switched on in your chart, ready for the right project. The black side, which is conscious, comes from the minute you were born. The red side, which is unconscious, comes from about 88 days earlier, and either one can supply the stamina. Think of the weekend you disappeared into a workshop and surfaced with a finished bookshelf.

On a Tuesday, someone with gate 14 may stay two hours past closing to finish a counter they are building for their own business, then drag through a meeting about nothing. The difference is plain to everyone watching. Work that fits makes them lively, and they will happily talk about the sanding technique at dinner. Work that does not fit feels like grinding.

The gift is staying power. The trap is where the power goes, since the engine does not ask whether the job is worth it. The system says this energy will pour into whatever is in front of it, so a person can spend years on a job that only fills the hours while the thing they care about waits.

When gate 14 is open

In plain EnglishOpen means the gate is dark in your chart, so your drive depends on who and what surrounds you. An open gate 14 does not mean you are lazy. The system says your stamina rises near people who are driven and fades near people who are not. A friend’s busy workshop can get you sanding a shelf for hours, and a quiet apartment can leave you on the couch. In a buzzing makerspace you build for hours, and alone at home you may never find the screwdriver.

The gift is flexibility: you can lend your effort to many kinds of projects. The trap is measuring your pace against the person with defined energy and deciding you are behind. Pick the projects and people that make you want to start. A gym buddy or a shared studio can do more for you than a motivational quote.

The six lines of gate 14

In plain EnglishSix lines, six ways to work hard.

Another teacher might shuffle these six around, and that is fine: they are our reading, not a standard.

• Line 1: The steady builder. You do careful groundwork and trust it more than flashy starts.
• Line 2: The natural worker. Effort comes easily, and you may not notice how much others struggle with the same task.
• Line 3: The restarter. You try a project, scrap it, and try another way until one finally holds.
• Line 4: The team engine. Your energy is steadier when someone else is rowing next to you.
• Line 5: The one people lean on. Others hand you their stalled projects and expect them to move.
• Line 6: The long haul. You may pick a side project early, drop it for years, and later return with a finished plan.

Channel 2-14 and gate 2

In plain EnglishGate 14 has one link, and it points the stamina toward a heading. Channel 2-14 joins this Sacral gate to gate 2 in the G center. The system labels it The Beat. Our name is Direction Engine: a sense of where you are headed gets fuel to move. That heading matters, because stamina without direction gets spent on other people’s lists.

If both gates are active, the channel is defined. You stay late on the project that feels like yours and slog through the one that does not. Friends lean on you to keep a group pointed somewhere.

If only gate 14 is active, the stamina is there but the heading comes from outside. You may work hard for someone else’s plan. A useful check is asking, midway through a busy month, whose idea you are building. If the answer is not yours, the tired feeling in the evening is information.

The Sacral center around it

In plain EnglishThe Sacral is the energy supply.

Gate 14 shares the Sacral center with eight other gates, which together make up the system’s picture of raw energy. Gate 5 is a center-mate with a different flavor: it runs on routine and timing, where gate 14 runs on commitment to a chosen project. The Sacral center page covers the whole group. Gate 14 is the stamina of that group.

When the Sun is in gate 14

In plain EnglishLate-November birthdays carry this gate.

Mid to late November, from November 17 to November 22 in 2027, is when the Sun passes through gate 14 (dates in UTC, so a day can shift with your time zone). A baby born then has it as a conscious Sun gate, the black column. They tend to be the friend who actually builds the thing the group only talks about, and who is pleasantly wrecked by Sunday night. Your other gates are in the Human Design chart tool.
